BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER!

These days, South Euclid is (sadly) one of the few area communities to have a vibrant and EXPANDING recycling program.  Today, our recycling program is easier and more inclusive than ever!

Besides several annual, city-wide “Round-Ups”...

We have
weekly curbside pick-ups on the day as your  trash pick-up.

We can recycle
ANY rigid plastic type with the recycling symbol and a materials code inside it of 1 through 7.  This includes wide-necked food containers (cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.), and much more.  (NOTE:  As of 2008, this does NOT include plastic bags or rigid "foam";  there are some non-curbside recycling options for these...)

And in our latest news...
weekly curbside recycling is now available for our multi-dwelling residents (apartments, condos, etc.)!

We will pick up corrugated cardboard as long as it is 3 ft. x 3 ft. cut tied and bundled.  We will not pick up any boxes that are still together, upright.

But...

THE ONGOING SUCCESS OF SOUTH EUCLID RECYCLING DEPENDS ON YOU!

That means...

  • Put only recyclables in with your recyclables.

  • Rinse the residue out of recycled food/beverage cans, containers and bottles (a few seconds’ time; they don’t have to be squeaky clean, you don’t have to remove labels, and you’ll help avoid bugs and critters!)

  • Physically separate recyclables from trash.  Click here to see what your curbside should look like on your weekly “Collection Day.”

  • Use the proper “containment” for your recycling.  Improperly prepared items will go into the collection trash bins, not recycling.

* GLASS, METALS & PLASTICS go into BLUE RECYCLING BAGS:  Available at many local  hardware & grocery stores.  You can also use the smaller, BLUE shopping bags.     (A word about bottle tops/lids/caps:  Some ARE recyclable!  You MAY put them in with your other blue-bag items.  The recycling plant’s automated system accepts the good stuff and disposes of the rest.  However, DO REMOVE TOPS FROM CONTAINERS. )

* PAPER - office mix, magazines, non-corrugated cardboard - go into BROWN PAPER BAGS in which you can ALSO INCLUDE...

     * NEWSPAPERS (you can bundle & twine these if you prefer)

     * PHONE BOOKS (or bundle & twine)

CARDBOARD RULES OF THUMB

 “GOOD CARDBOARD”

It’s a single-layer item (paper towel tube, 12-pk. boxes/sleeves)

It stores in a closet or cupboard (shoebox, cereal/cracker/cookie box)

NEW: Corrugated Cardboard is collected if broken down and tied in bundles no larger than 3 ft x 3 ft.

“BAD CARDBOARD”

It stores in the fridge or freezer (ice cream, milk carton) and therefore has a waxy surface
