RE: 2019 Application for Rental Certificate of Occupancy

To Whom It May Concern,

The current certificate of occupancy for all rental properties expire at end of this year. Applications and payment for 2019 are due either received or postmarked by January 7, 2019.

We are happy to announce registration and payment can now be completed online. Please refer to the next pages in this packet for instructions. If you do not wish to complete your application through the online portal, you must complete a paper registration. Paper registrations can be obtained on our website, in person at City Hall, or mailed/emailed upon request.

Before completing your application, please use this checklist to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.

  • Owners residing outside of Greater Cleveland (Cuyahoga and bordering counties) are required to have a local agent/management company in charge.
  • Paper document must be signed and notarized by either the owner or agent (whichever party is completing the registration). A notary is available at the Housing Department during business hours.
  • Property taxes are current or on a documented payment plan.

Fees are as follows:

  • Single Family/Condo: $200.
  • Multi-Family: $200 for first unit, $150 for each additional unit (capped at $3000 total).
  • Units currently unoccupied, with the intention to rent, should still be registered.
  • Applications received after the due date will be subject to a $100 late fee per unit.

Make checks payable to “City of South Euclid.” Cash is also accepted. Visa/MasterCard (credit cards) are accepted in person or through the online portal with an additional service fee applied. We’re always here to assist you with this process. Please contact Housing Programs Coordinator Steve Karr at 216-691-4206 or with any questions or concerns.
